A ‘Grand’ Sunday Brunch at Grand Sarovar!

Ah! Sunday Brunches! Haven’t they ticked off well in Mumbai. Brunches have become the favorite thing to do on every Sunday morning. So what’s best to recover from a saturday night hangover? Yes, your answer lies in these brunches to kill those lazy mornings and without the hassle to cook!

I was pretty much in the same state that day! Tired after my long trip from Kerala , I was pretty lazy to head down for brunch. But, since this was happening just 15 minutes away from my place then why not?

The brunch was scheduled at one of goregaon’s grandest, Grand Sarovar. The afternoon was set perfect with rains hitting Mumbai. To start off, this place is quite huge! The brunch spread went on from on end to the other starting from your salads, to Italian, Indian, chaat and what not. What stole everyone’s attention is the endless dessert counter, like it had no end to it! They also had a globe filled with ‘chocolate’

We started off with drinks, I chose to start my brunch on a ‘High’ note *pun intended* so i started off with the long Island Ice Tea. I must say, that this LIIT was lit perfectly. Not too hard, not to mild – just perfect! With the right amount of ice, this was one drink to get started with a BANG!

My friends opted for the ‘Mimosa’ which they said was pretty amazing too! The rush of the champagne and the citrus taste of the orange inside was a delight.

Then came the starters. Well, its a brunch and we are lazy! so the staff gets you these piping hot starters right to your table. We got a good amount of choices in both veg and in non veg.

I tried the Chicken tikka – succulent chicken pieces, marinated well. My personal favorite were the Fish in salt and pepper. The fish inside was soft and the lovely coating outside added the right crunch with a burst of flavors.

We were also served with chicken dumplings which were stuffed well.

The only disappointment was in the prawn in butter garlic.

They were a bit too dry for my liking and I did not get the taste of garlic that I love so much. The vegetarian counterpart had no complaints too as their dishes were a hit too.

When your appetizers are good, then your pretty sure that your brunch has started well.

We then moved on to the mains. You can select anything and everything from this wide spread! You can stick to your favorite Indian or travel down the world to try some continental delights! I did not tend to fill myself up with the mains, but I would recommend the fan favorite Sukha chicken and some amazing biryani.

P.S, If you feel like breaking the rules and run down the end for some chaat, then you should head down the chaat counter! Hangover kicked out with some Pani – Puri or Sev Puri? Good idea!

And then it came down to the desserts, Oh dear god! This was a hard choice! I would strongly recommend the gajar ka halwa and the caramel cake. My personal favorite was the ‘Turkish Delight’ These cute heart shaped pink jelly like sweet was a delight for sure! A must try.

Overall, the brunch ended on a good note! The ambiance was brilliant, the service was quick and our endless conversations is what makes brunch the best.

Please note that this was an invite so we did not pay for this meal thus I could not judge the VFM aspect of it! But priced at 1300 tops, this sure makes a good meal.
